PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yellow toner having good chroma, transparency and light resistance and exhibiting good bleeding resistance, and to provide an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge using the yellow toner. SOLUTION: In the yellow toner containing at least a binder resin and a coloring agent, an acid number of the toner is set to 2-40 mgKOH/g and a dye represented by formula (1) is used as the coloring agent. In the formula, R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>each denotes a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group or a halogen atom; R<SB>3</SB>-R<SB>6</SB>each denotes a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a methyl group, an ethyl group, a methoxy group, an ethoxy group or a sulfonate acid group; and R<SB>7</SB>-R<SB>10</SB>each denotes a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a dimethylamido group or a halogen atom.
