PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for holding the heat in a hot blasting stove and a heat-holding apparatus with which the heat-holding cost in the case of holding the heat in the hot blasting stove, can be reduced at the stopping time of blasting in a blast furnace. SOLUTION: In the method for holding the heat of the hot blasting stove, performing the heat-holding of a regenerator while supplying high temperature combustion gas to a regenerative brick laying 10 in the generator 3 from a combustion chamber in the hot blasting stove 1, the heat-conduction into the inner part side of the regenerative brick laying, is prevented by closing a vertical through-hole formed in the regenerative brick arranged in the regenerator and also, the excessive heat is not supplied to the inner part having high temperature, but the suitable amount of heat can be supplied to the outer peripheral part having low temperature by causing the high temperature combustion gas from the combustion chamber to flow into the outer peripheral side of the regenerative brick laying.
