<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer piezoelectric element capable of increasing the displacement of a piezoelectric layer, and to provide a fuel injector. <P>SOLUTION: The multilayer piezoelectric element 1 comprises a multilayer body 2 formed by laying a piezoelectric layer 3 and an inner electrode layer 4 (electrode layers 4A, 4B) alternately. The electrode layers 4A and 4B are laid alternately so that their partial regions face each other while sandwiching the piezoelectric layer 3. On the surface of the multilayer body 2, outer electrodes 5A and 5B connected electrically with the electrode layers 4A and 4B, respectively, are provided. An overlapping region S of the electrode layers 4A and 4B forms a piezoelectric active region causing the displacement of the piezoelectric layer 3 when a voltage is applied between the electrode layers 4A and 4B. Each inner electrode layer 4 is formed with a plurality of through holes in the laying direction.
