<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional display device capable of improving a resolution. <P>SOLUTION: In the three-dimensional image display device, optical elements are arranged with optical openings arrayed so as to correspond to parallax images while being opposed to display units. The parallax images are displayed in a projection region on the observer side towards the observation side and the three-dimensional images in a depth region on the reverse side to the observer side while using the display units as references. When smooth three-dimensional images are displayed in the projection region, optical gaps among the optical elements and a display surface are set at values larger than a reference distance in response to the positions of the three-dimensional images. When the smooth three-dimensional images are displayed in the depth region by an observer, the optical gaps are set at values smaller than the reference distance in response to the positions of the three-dimensional images. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
