<p>The invention relates to a feed pipe (1) which is used connect a dental or surgical instrument to a supply and control unit and which contains fluid conduits and electric lines. According to the invention, one end of the aforementioned pipe is equipped with a universal coupling (4) for removably connecting different types of instruments to part or all of the conduits and lines. The universal coupling comprises fluid connectors (6 to 9) which are connected to the conduits and electrical connectors (20 to 23) which are connected to the lines, each of said connectors occupying a space on a front face (11) of the universal coupling. The feed pipe (1) contains at least one additional electric line comprising an additional conductor (24) which is not connected to one of the electrical connectors, but to one (7) of the fluid connectors of the universal coupling, such that said dual-function connector can provide a fluid connection, an electrical connection or both as selected. The additional conductor (24) can be located inside or outside the flexible tube (17) forming the fluid conduit or in the wall thereof.</p> |
