A waste container includes a sleeve (1) of hollow elongate structure, the sleeve (1) has spaced apart crimp portals (2) at each entrance (3) ínterspaced by creased bend lines running at right angles from one entrance edge to the other. The sleeve structure is formed from a rectangular sheet of flexible material such as cardboard by joining the sheet ends by adhesive or staple means. With the container in an upright position a liner (6) may be inserted and draped over the entrance (3) and the liner (6) tucked into the crimp portals (2). A designated waste and load indicator lid (7) added. When waste is placed in the liner (6) the increasing load exceeds the resistance of the crimp portals and the liner raises the load indicator lid (7) and the liner (6), is released to the floor. The operative may then turn the container over for reuse and remove the controlled load.
