PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize device cost and power consumption within a device by using radio means in a signal transmission device to transmit the signals collected from a variety of industrial processes, production lines of a plant, wired sensors installed in a variety of experimental apparatuses and a variety of field apparatuses to a remotely located host system. SOLUTION: The signal transmission device, which is connected to a plurality of field apparatuses and transmits the signals from the field apparatuses to the remotely located host computer system, comprises input terminals for receiving signals from a plurality of field apparatuses, a signal processing unit for generating communication frames conforming to radio communication protocol from selected signals, and a radio transceiving interface for radio transmitting the communication frames to the host computer.
