<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fine particle which is used as an inexpensive carrier to prepare an inexpensive catalyst by modifying only the surface of the fine particle with a substance having catalytic ability and has a special structure. <P>SOLUTION: This fine particle is provided with a first fine particle 3, a thin film 3a or a hyperfine particle having the particle size smaller than that of the first fine particle with which the surface of first fine particle 3 is covered and a second fine particle 20 having the particle size larger than that of the first fine particle 3. The first fine particle 3 is stuck to the surface of the second fine particle 20. The surface of the first fine particle 3 is covered with the hyperfine particle or the thin film, for example, by using a vacuum vessel having a polygonal shape in the cross section, rotating the vacuum vessel around the axis of rotation in the direction almost perpendicular to the cross section and depositing the hyperfine particle or the thin film on the first fine particle by sputtering while agitating or rotating the first particle 3 in the vacuum vessel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
