PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochromic device which is made larger in degree of freedom of selection of a switching time for a coloration state and or transmissivity at a fixed wavelength of electromagnetic radiation. SOLUTION: This device 1 generates a current for electrochromic reaction by a current generator 8 capable of supplying a current based upon reference values determined as a function of the number of electric charges to be moved for switching the intensity from an initial state to a desired state and a function of the time selected for the switching.
