TRANSMISSION BELT AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF

A transmission belt whose compression rubber layer and adhesion rubber layer are both made of a vulcanized ethylene -alpha-olefin-diene rubber composition and in which core wires are embedded and bonded right in the adhesion rubber layer, characterized by satisfying the relationship: 0.9 < a/b < 1.2 wherein a is the tensile modulus of the compression rubber layer in the lengthwise direction of the belt and b is that in the widthwise direction thereof. It is preferable that the compression rubber layer be made of a vulcanized ethylene-alpha- olefin-diene rubber having an ethylene content of 55 to 85wt%. Further, the compression rubber layer may contain short fibers in a state oriented in the lengthwise direction of the belt in an amount of at most 5 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the ethylene-alpha-olefin-diene rubber.
