Printed adhesive tape production method for e.g. masking tape, by coating with adhesive on one side, printing on opposite side and cutting into narrow rolls

A web of paper is coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive (2b') on one side (2b) so that the tape can be easily attached to and removed from a surface, the web tail is then passed through a printing machine in order to print a pattern (T1) on the non-adhesive side whilst the adhesive is in contact with a roll acting as an anvil and then the printed layer is dried or cured before winding the web up into a roll. Finally, the web is unwound in a cutting step during which the master roll is cut into parallel strips which are then wound up to form a number of relatively narrow adhesive tape rolls whose combined width is equal to that of the master roll.
