METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF GLASS THREADS COATED WITH A THERMOFUSIBLE SIZE AND PRODUCTS RESULTING THEREFROM

The invention relates to a method for the production of glass threads coated with a thermoplastic size, wherein flows of molten glass are drawn and discharged from openings in the base of one or several channels in the form of one or several bunches of continuous filaments; the filaments are then arranged into threads which are collected on one or several moving supports. The method consists in depositing a first composition including a coupling agent on the glass filaments and in depositing a second composition including a thermofusible polymer in a molten state when the filaments are arranged into threads at the very latest. The invention also relates to glass threads obtained according to said method and composites containing said threads.
