<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply or block electricity to a thermal head by detecting a rise-fall state of the thermal head or detecting whether a paper is correctly transferred in a thermal printer apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A cam for rise and fall of the thermal head is set in parallel to a platen roller, and its rotation pulse is detected. In other words, when a minor axis part is in contact with the thermal head, the thermal head falls. When a major axis part is in contact with the thermal head, the thermal head rises.
