PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the removal of an arc extinguishing cover while securing its mounting strength. SOLUTION: In this electromagnetic contactor, a pair of stationary contacts fixed so as to face an upper frame 1 and an opening and closing part comprising a movable contact to bridge the stationary contacts are provided in each phase, and the arc extinguishing cover 3 to cover the opening and closing part and a terminal cover 4 to cover terminals formed on the stationary contacts are fitted into the upper frame 1. The terminal cover 4 is fitted into the upper frame perpendicularly to the fitting direction of the arc extinguishing cover 3, this terminal cover 4 is mounted to the upper frame 1 by the engagement of its projecting bar 4g with the bar groove 1d of the upper frame 1 so that it can not be rotated, the engagement part 4i of the terminal cover 4 is engaged with the engagement hole 11 of the arc extinguishing cover3, and the arc extinguishing cover 3 is restrained by the terminal cover 4 against internal pressure increase casused by an arc gas. Mounting strength of the arc extinguishing cover 3 is reinforced by the terminal cover 4, and on the other hands, if the terminal cover 4 is removed, the arc extinguishing cover 3 can be easily removed.
