<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compare an output image with inputted image information, and to judge that abnormality occurs when the output image is different from the input image information. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a 1st storing means 150 for storing image information for image formation; an image forming means 130 for forming an image; an output image reading means 140 for reading the image information on a transfer paper; a 2nd storing means 151 for storing the output image data obtained by the output image reading means 140; a comparison means 161 for comparing the image information stored by the 1st storing means with the image data stored by the 2nd storing means; and an abnormality judging means 160 for judging that the abnormality occurs when the output image data does not secure prescribed reproducibility on the basis of the comparison results by the comparison means. The abnormality of the formed image can be objectively and surely grasped, then, the output of the abnormal image is suppressed to the minimum.
