PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load on a chemical cycle and to provide relatively high-purity BPA (bisphenol A) for a recycled product in relation to a method for producing the BPA comprising a step of recovering the BPA and an apparatus for production. SOLUTION: The method for producing the BPA comprises mother liquor purifying steps 32 and 33 of separating and removing by-products and impurities in a BPA reaction step 1 from at least a part of a circulating mother liquor 17, a secondary reaction step 34 of reacting the mother liquor after purification and producing the BPA and a mother liquor returning step 25 of feeding the mother liquor containing the BPA produced in the secondary reaction step 34 to the BPA reaction step 1. Furthermore, a thermal decomposition step 51 of decomposing waste polycarbonate is included and the decomposition liquor, together with the mother liquor after the purification, is fed to the secondary reaction step 34.
