摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument and a method for accurately measuring light transmittance of an object, without being affected by the dispersion and the temperature fluctuations in a light receiving part or a light-emitting part, and without having to provide additional special sensors. SOLUTION: This instrument/method for measuring the light transmittance of the object is provided with a variable means for making variable a light emission quantity of the light-emitting part, using a light transmittance measuring portion, provided a midway in conveyance of the object, a control means for bringing the light emission quantity to a prescribed quantity or more until reaching a transmission portion in the midway in the conveyance, a detection means for detecting that a photoreception quantity is the first photoreception quantity or more, a regulation means for changing the light emission quantity after the detection to regulate the photoreception quantity to the second photoreception quantity of a saturated level or less, a measuring means for measuring the third photoreception quantity in a specified position, and a computing means for computing the light transmittance of the object, based on the second photoreception quantity, the third photoreception quantity and a prescribed transmission quantity.
