METHOD FOR PRODUCING SHEET-LIKE MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a substrate for artificial leather affording an artificial leather sheet having a natural leathery touch feeling, excellent mechanical performances and further excellent flexibility characteristics and aesthetic properties with a small environmental load during production. SOLUTION: The method for producing a sheet-like material satisfies the following. (I) Both a woven or knitted fabric and a fiber web are treated with a finish oil with at least≥70% content of a silicone compound and≤5% moisture content before a needle punching treatment and (II) delamination strength of the sheet-like material after the needle punching treatment is≥6 kg/2.5 cm when the woven or knitted fabric composed of ultrafine fiber-producing type fibers composed of at least one component composed of a water-soluble thermoplastic polyvinyl alcohol polymer is laminated onto the fiber web composed of ultrafine fiber-producing type fibers composed of at least one component composed of the water-soluble thermoplastic polyvinyl alcohol polymer and the needle punching treatment is carried out.
