PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of suppressing the height thereof and, subsidiarily, simplifying the adjustment of fluctuations of intervals of scanning luminous fluxes, to provide a multi-beam optical scanner using the light source device, and to provide a multi-beam image forming apparatus and multi-beam image forming method using the multi-beam optical scanner. SOLUTION: Respective light source parts 12A, 12B are located such that a plurality of the luminous fluxes emitted from the respective light source parts 12A, 12B intersect one another almost at the same position in the main scanning direction. According to a luminous flux synthesizing means, spatial center lines of a plurality of the luminous fluxes emitted from the respective light source parts are arranged so as to synthesize a luminous flux in close contact with one another in the main scanning direction and, therefore, the heights of the respective light source parts 12A, 12B can be suppressed low.
