PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user in a general household to test communication connection with respect to a server apparatus easily by the automatic communication test device of a user's apparatus in a remote watching system. SOLUTION: The user's apparatus 10 in the remote watching system 1 performs network connection setting automatically by the automatic communication test device 15. The automatic device 15 is equipped with a setting means 16 for allowing a user to change operation mode settings according to whether a telephone line to be used is a continuously connected line or dial-up connection line, and a connection test execution means 17 for automatically performing a connection test with respect to the server apparatus when the user's apparatus is connected to the telephone line. When the user operates a power switch 13 while pushing a communication test button 14, and power is supplied to the user's apparatus 10; the execution means 17 performs an automatic communication test by determining the operation mode.
