<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering energy by converting woody biomass, dry firewood, raw firewood, charcoal, coal, coke, or the like, into a useful gas such as a reducing gas or fuel gas. <P>SOLUTION: Woody biomass, dry firewood, raw firewood, charcoal, coal, coke, or the like, is burnt in a carbonized gas generator 1, and the high temperature of ≥980°C is utilized for reducing the burning-produced CO<SB>2</SB>to CO by using the carbon C of the woody biomass, dry firewood, raw firewood, charcoal, coal, coke, or the like. Moisture in the woody biomass, dry firewood, raw firewood, coal, coke, or the like, is converted into steam and, in the presence of the carbon C of the woody biomass, dry firewood, raw firewood, charcoal, coal, coke, or the like, is reduced to H<SB>2</SB>and CO under the high-temperature circumstance. In a furnace or the like wherein the atmosphere is made to be oxygen-free and reducing, woody biomass, dry firewood, raw firewood, charcoal, coal, coke, or the like, is carbonized for use as a fuel, supplement fuel, or alternate fuel for the furnace or the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
