In a tube wall, a tube (1) has an impressed dent (2) that does not run around the tube. The tube outer wall does not jut out beyond a preset original tube diameter in a deformation area on each impressed dent. Cams can be pushed onto the shaft and fastened on it. Appropriate turning means that camshafts facilitate free access to cylinder head screws even in an assembled condition. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a cam shaft.
