In the field of waste collection a FEL or REL container having an access opening closed by a moveable closure requires an operative to open the closure before using a vehicle to invert the container. A FEL (or REL) (10) container has a container body (12) and an access opening (24) formed in said body (12) through which waste material may be discharged from the container (10) by inversion of the container (10), and a lid (30) slidably mounted on the container body (12) for movement between an open position whereat the lid (30) provides open access through the access opening (24) and a closed position whereat the lid (30) extends across the access opening (24) to prevent access through the access opening (24). The lid (30) in its open position directly underlies in a co-planar manner, a wall portion of the container body (12). The lid may be a roller shutter. Latch means (70, 71) may retain it in the open position. |
