The method involves activating a function (5) of a vehicle based on operating condition of the vehicle, to generate a driver`s request related to an output variable e.g. torque or power, of the vehicle. A delay of the request is neutralized using a neutralizing unit (40), during or after activation of the function or before effective intervention of the function. The request is chosen as a request for increasing driving stability. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a vehicle.
