PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving system of a head carriage apparatus which carries out following operation after seek operation by saved power consumption. SOLUTION: A head carriage having a magnetic head slider 42 at its tip comprises a main magnetic driving apparatus 51 whose torque constant is large and a sub magnetic driving apparatus 60 whose torque constant is small. In the following operation after seek operation, a first controller 81 generates current (a) for eccentric component correction for correcting the eccentric component of a magnetic disk 45. The main magnetic driving apparatus 51 is driven with the current (a) to operate the head carriage, and the magnetic head slider 42 follows the eccentric component of the magnetic disk 45. A second controller 82 generates correction current (b) for correcting a positional error component remaining after the correction of the eccentric component of the magnetic disk 45. The sub magnetic driving apparatus 60 is driven with the current (b), and the magnetic head slider 42 follows a track. Compared with the case of carrying out the following operation by only the sub magnetic driving apparatus 60, power consumption is saved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
