PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic resin material having extremely small refractive index variation with temperature and provide an optical element produced by using the material. SOLUTION: The thermoplastic resin material contains surface-treated inorganic fine particles having an average particle diameter of≥1 nm and≤30 nm and dispersed in a host material composed of an organic polymer and has an absolute value of the temperature-dependency of refractive index ¾dn/dT¾ satisfying the formula (A): 0≤¾dn/dT¾≤5.0×10-5.
