METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETECTING POLARIZATION MODE DISPERSION FAULTY POSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a detection apparatus for detecting a faulty detection position in which the polarization mode dispersion is high in a fiber-optic transmission line and its cause of fault.

SOLUTION: The apparatus for detecting a polarization mode dispersion faulty position comprises a polarization OTDR 4 which measures the polarization mode dispersion of the fiber-optic transmission line 1 in the longitudinal direction and a Brillouin OTDR 5 which measures the magnitude of strain of the fiber-optic transmission line 1 in the longitudinal direction to detect a faulty detection position in which the polarization mode dispersion is high in the fiber-optic transmission line and its cause of fault.
