PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam trap for preventing deposition of foreign matter in a valve port and a valve element. SOLUTION: A valve casing having a valve chamber 5 inside it is formed by connecting a lid 4 with a main body 3 having an inlet 1 and an outlet 2 by a screw. A spherical float 8 is arranged in the valve chamber 5 in a free condition. The valve port 6 for communicating the valve chamber 5 with the outlet 2 is provided between the valve chamber 5 and the outlet 2. A handy probe 17 incorporating a transmitter 10 and a receiver 11 for ultrasonic vibration integrally is detachably attached to one end part of a valve seat 9 forming the valve port 6. The probe 17 and a controller 13 are mutually connected. A foreign matter measuring device and a liquid level measuring device are constituted of the controller 13, the transmitter 10, and the receiver 11. When foreign matter adheres to and is deposited on the valve port 6 and an outer surface of the spherical float 8 accompanying the operation of the steam trap, the transmitter 10 for ultrasonic vibration is driven based on a driving signal from the controller 13 to wash the foreign matter by ultrasonic waves.
