<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the flexibility of the shape of a display by simplifying the display structure. <P>SOLUTION: The display device is constructed, by using an optical waveguide 1 having a core 2 for scattering through which display light for display is propagated and a core 3 for masking, of which the light transmittance is switched with control light 6. The display light 5 in the core 2 for scattering is radiated and is emitted to the outside on a position of the core 3 for masking made to be in a transmissive state with the control light 6. By adjusting the timing of the display light 5 and the control light 6 on the waveguide 1, conventional two-dimension light source and/or control is made unnecessary, and display on a flat or curved surface display is made possible, by one-dimensional control (time and intensity) of the display light 5 and the control light 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
