<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insertion apparatus of a medical instrument for easily performing the work of passing the medical instrument such as a colonoscope through a sudden intestinal tract bend part at the time of the work of inserting it into body cavities of the large intestine or the like and improving the operability, and its method. <P>SOLUTION: An insertion assisting tool 4 to be detachably mounted on the distal end part of the insertion part 3 of the colonoscope 2 is provided.
