Assembly of sandwich component, e.g. for metal-faced building facade, involves initial forming of outer sheets by incremental shaping method

A three-dimensionally shaped sandwich component (9) is made by first shaping the upper (1) and/or lower (3) cover sheet using an incremental shaping method (7), e.g. a movable form tool with computer numerical control, or a laser, plasma arc or water jet. The sheets then are cut (6) to size and the sandwich core inserted (8). An independent claim is also included for a similar method in which only the upper cover sheet, which forms the face of the component, is shaped. Various arrangements are shown for sealing the edges and locating the cover sheets relative to each other during the filling process.
