<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver using an electromechanical transducer in which the length in the axial direction of a driving body is miniaturized without reducing the movable range of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The driver 1 includes a fixing member 13, a piezoelectric element 11 fixed at one end to the fixing member 13, and a drive friction member 12 connected to the other end of the piezoelectric element 11. The driver 1 moves the moving element held slidable in the drive friction member 12 by the elongation and contraction of the piezoelectric element 11.
