PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain stability by increasing the getting in and out car floor area and simplification of the protection and a maintenance-inspection to a thrust load of a motor shaft, by constituting the initial height so as to be always a plane, that is, barrier-free, by easily installing an installation surfacre even when the installation surface of the lowest floor is the plane, in a self-traveling elevator vertically moved by rotating an inscribed short cylinder of winding a belt-like rail in a male screw shape by one winding or more on the outer periphery in a screw fitting shape on its inner surface, by installing a bearing in a female screw shape in the circumferential direction at a proper constant pitch vertically to three or more vertical columns arranged in a proper position on the circumference. SOLUTION: When installing a getting in and out car on the short cylinder, the getting in and out car is suspended from the short cylinder, and the barrier-free is attained by setting the initial height only as the thickness of a floorboard of the getting in and out car. The bearing installed on the vertical columns is arranged in a zigzag shape. A rotation stopper of the getting in and out car is formed by fastening a ceiling board and the floorboard of the getting in and out car by a channel-shaped member for sliding in close ontact on an inner surface in its left-right outer race train. The length of the vertical columns is shortened in the size, and an inner door and an outer door are unitized in a pair, and are formed into a structure for connecting the getting in and out car by interposing a wheel between the short cylinder and the getting in and out car.
