<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the output of a sensor circuit with arbitrary timings, and to improve accuracy in detecting gas concentration. <P>SOLUTION: A sensor control circuit 30 is connected to a sensor element 10 constituting an A/F sensor. The sensor control circuit 30 measures an element current, flowing to the sensor element 10 at voltage impression and generates an A/F output voltage AFO, corresponding to the current measured. A microcomputer 20 temporarily sets the sensor control circuit 30 in the stoichiometric air/fuel detection state, by opening a switch 35 and computes offset error, on the basis of the A/F output voltage AFO at that time.
