PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform color limitation processing while keeping good gray balance for image data. SOLUTION: For image data being supplied from an image reader 2, a control section 11 performs color limitation processing by executing a program PRG stored in an HDD 12. When color limitation processing is carried out, the control section 11 performs processing for lowering saturation of such pixels as located within a predetermined distance from a gray axis out of pixels included in the image data, and then converts the color of a remarked pixel to such a representative color as minimizing the color difference from the remarked pixel out of representative colors included in a color table TBL.
