A non-needle access device (10) includes a housing (12) having a fluid pathw ay and an inner chamber (34). A biased plunger (16) is disposed within the inne r chamber (34), movable between a first position, and a second position. A mai n seal (32) seals the inner chamber (34) from the fluid pathway. A vent (20) between the inner chamber (34), the outside of the housing (12) allows air t o pass out of and into the inner chamber (34) when the plunger (16) is moved between the first and the second positions.
