PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin polymerization catalyst component which has hydrogen resistance activity higher than those of conventional catalysts and to provide a catalyst containing the catalyst component. SOLUTION: The olefin polymerization catalyst is prepared from (A) a solid catalyst component prepared by contact among a magnesium compound (a), a titanium (IV) halide compound (b), and an electron-donating compound (c), (B) an organoaluminum compound represented by the formula: R<SP>1</SP><SB>p</SB>AlQ<SB>3-p'</SB>, (C) an organosilicon compound represented by the formula: SiR<SP>2</SP>R<SP>3</SP>(OR<SP>4</SP>)(OR<SP>5</SP>), and (D) an organosilicon compound represented by the formula: R<SP>6</SP><SB>x</SB>Si(OR<SP>7</SP>)<SB>4-x</SB>.
