A refrigeration generation system wherein a frequency modulating mechanical resonator (1) is positioned between a pressure wave generator (10) and a cryocooler and serves to reduce the frequency of the oscillating gas emanati ng from the pressure wave generator so that it more closely comports with a mor e efficient operating frequency of the cryocooler.
