PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus where paper passing through a plurality of paper transporting paths is detected by one sensor unit, consequently the miniaturization of an entire machine is facilitated and the number of expensive electric part items is reduced. SOLUTION: By arranging the sensor unit comprising one actuator disposed to extend over a plurality of paper transporting paths and one photointerrupter to convert the movement of the actuator into an electrical signal in the paper transporting path and actuating the actuator by the paper passing through the paper transporting path, the paper passing through each paper transporting path is individually detected by one photointerrupter.
