PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste combustion method for a stoker furnace for further improving combustion efficiency while preventing the lowering of a temperature in a downstream side stoker to reliably suppress the production of harmful substances, and to provide the stoker furnace. SOLUTION: The stoker furnace comprises a first combustion region provided for drying and thermally decomposing wastes with high temperature primary air 22 introduced from the lower part of an upstream side stoker 14a and a second combustion region for firing incinerated residues produced in the thermal decomposition with primary air 23 oxidized and enriched and introduced from the lower part of the downstream side stoker 14b. The upstream side stoker 14a and the downstream side stoker 14b are continuously provided via a stepped potion 17. In the upstream side stoker 14a, the temperature of the high temperature primary air 22, the concentration of oxygen and the excess coefficient of air are set so that combustion mainly proceeds from the lower part to the upper part of a waste layer and unburnt components resides on the surface of the waste layer. In the downstream side stoker, the incinerated residues are uniformly heated by combustion heat of the unburnt components scattering in the incinerated residues. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
