PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical subassembly in which a light source, lenses and objects are coupled with highly accurate alignment, and and also to provide its assembling method. SOLUTION: The optical subassembly includes: a substrate; a group of solder features for demarcating a first snap-fitting feature existing on the substrate; a die including an optical device existing on the substrate, and a cap which exists on the substrate and covers the die. The cap includes the lenses which are arranged on the die and a surface which aligns the lenses to the die, and which demarcates a second snap-fitting feature which is fitted to the first snap-fitting feature for maintaining the cap on the substrate.
