PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material useful as an optically functional material and a material suitable in the fields where optical amplification techniques or emission phenomenon, which are used in optical communication fields, are utilized. SOLUTION: The optically functional material comprises a fluorine-containing acrylic polymer having a glass transition temperature of 40°C or higher and a fluorine content of at least 50 wt% or a fluorine-containing acrylic polymer having a glass transition temperature of 100°C or higher and a fluorine content of at least 30 wt% but less than 50 wt% and a rare earth metal ion capable of exhibiting optical functionality, where the rare earth metal ion is dispersed in the matrix of the fluorine-containing acrylic polymer.
