PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To light a discharge lamp in an initial state and to enable easy grasping of the light control state. SOLUTION: The floodlight comprises a trolley 11, a discharge lamp 19 installed on the trolley 11, and an electronic ballast 30 for lighting the discharge lamp 19, by stabilizing the electric power supplied from a generator 21. The electronic ballast 30 comprises a push button switch 38 for light control, which is capable of selecting a plurality of light control state; and a control circuit 45 (control circuit) which, when electric power is supplied to the electronic ballast, supplies power corresponding to the initial state to the discharge lamp 19, by resetting the light control state selected by the light control switch; and after the discharge of the discharge lamp 19 has supplied power corresponding to the light control state selected by the push button switch 38 for light control. Furthermore, the electronic ballast is provided with a display lamp 37 (notifying means) for displaying the dimming state and makes the display lamp 37 notified of the light control state selected by the push button switch 38 by the control circuit 45.
