PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor excellent in wear resistance in repetitive use, having electrophotographic properties which are equivalent to or higher than those obtained at the time of using a conventional halogen-containing solvent, and also excellent in potential characteristics, durability, image properties and resolution under various service conditions over a prolonged period of time from the initial stage of image formation. SOLUTION: In the electrophotographic photoreceptor having a photosensitive layer on a conductive support, a surface layer of the electrophotographic photoreceptor is formed by applying and drying a solution comprising a binder resin, a diorganopolysiloxane having a specific repeating structural unit and a weight average molecular weight of 1,000-1,000,000 and an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent having a boiling point of≥80°C.
