A semiconductor device has a column decoder (selecting/writing circuit) (7) that, when writing multi-bit data into a plurality of pages each of which is a selection unit and comprises a predetermined number of memory cells located on the same word line (WL), selects pages that are not adjacent to each other, and performs a bit-writing in the memory cells of the selected pages at the same time. The spacing between the memory cells in which the writing is performed at the same time is widened, thereby eliminating unnecessary stress, which would otherwise be caused by the writing, from the memory cells in which no writing is performed.
