PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-film magnetic head capable of maintaining signal reading capability by limiting the transmission of heat to a magneto-resistance effect layer while actively utilizing a TPTP phenomenon to prevent thermal asperity, an HGA, and a magnetic disk device. SOLUTION: The thin-film magnetic head is provided with a slider having an air lubricant surface, a reading magnetic head element, a writing magnetic head element disposed in a position opposite the slider of the reading magnetic head element and having a magnetic pole part, an overcoat layer formed on the slider to cover a writing magnetic head element and the reading magnetic head element, and a heater disposed in the overcoat layer to generate heat during the operation of the reading magnetic head element or the writing magnetic head element. The heater is disposed in a position opposite the slider of the writing magnetic head element, and the end of the air lubricant surface side of the heater is disposed in a position same distant or farther from a PTR surface compared with the end of a side opposite the air lubricant surface of the magnetic pole part.
