PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic gain controller which is low in error rate of demodulated data, even with a signal whose peak factor varies with time, and further an automatic gain controller which hardly malfunctions due to disturbance waves. SOLUTION: The automatic gain controller is equipped with a peak power calculator 6 which calculates the peak power of an input signal generated by superposing a plurality of channel signals; a channel mean power calculator 8 which calculates mean power of the input signal by channels; and a variable gain unit 4 which lowers the gain of the input signal, when the peak power of the superposed input signal, calculated by the peak power calculator, exceeds a 1st specified threshold and raises the gain of the input signal, when the mean power of the input signal of one of the channels calculated by the channel mean power calculator becomes equal to or lower than a 2nd specific threshold.
