PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct a performance peculiar to stringed musical instrument by enabling the mute process by hand, which conducts string pushing or string releasing operations, even though for the case where no sting is provided to a fingerboard section, a pitch is decided by the pitch switch of the fingerboard section and the sound is generated. SOLUTION: The instrument is provided with a string playing detection section 13 which detects the playing of the strings, a pitch detecting section 14 which has two contact switches, that are turned on by the amount of displacement of different string pressings and provided at each fret position of each string and a CPU 12. If the section 13 detects the fact that the strings are played, the CPU 12 detects the speed of string pressing or string releasing operations by the time difference of the state changes of the snitches. If the speed of the above operations is faster than a prescribed value, a mute process instruction is provided to a musical sound generating circuit 17 and a hammering-on playing or a pulling-off playing is conducted. |
