<p>A golf putter head is provided. The head of the putter being of open frame construction. In other words the putter head is in the form of an open band with no top or bottom member added. The weight thus saved can be used to increase the heel and toe balance of the putter. A hosel block connection for the shaft is attached to the rear of the putter so that the centre of gravity of the putter tends to be disposed towards the rear of the putter head. This effectively increases the so called gear effect If desired a pre-determined amount of pre-stress can be induced in the striking face of the putter, the striking face can be given a reverse loft and the putter provided with a pointer to indicate proper alignment. In a father embodiment the striking face of the putter head is provided with longitudinal flanges and also curved side flanges. The curved side flanges wrap around a support member on the rear of the putter head and are attached thereto by means of high tensile screws through a locking plate. A hosel block is curved and tapered and is intended to place the centre of gravity of the putter head towards the heel and position the shaft in line with a ball impact position.</p> |
