<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber treating agent capable of being efficiently absorbed by a fiber, by forming a lubricant into an oil-in-water type emulsion with the aid of a polymer compound. <P>SOLUTION: This fiber treating agent contains an oil-in-water type emulsion composition which contains (a) the polymer compound, (b) the lubricant, and (c) water, wherein the polymer compound (a) contains vinylic monomer units (a1) each having an 8-22 hydrocarbon group at its side chain and vinylic monomer units (a2) [not including the vinylic monomer units (a1)] each having a functional group with hydrogen bonding ability and/or an ionic group and each composed of 2-16 carbon atoms in total, so that a mol ratio of the units (a1) to the units (a2) satisfies: (a1)/(a2)=100/30 to 150/1, and has a weight-average molecular weight of 2,000-200,000. A method for treating a fiber product comprises treating the product with the component (b) of the fiber treating agent in an amount of 0.05-5.0 mass% based on the fiber product. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
